If you frequently pull a trailer you know the possibility of having axle issues. This concern is not uncommon although it should not be a frequent issue you experience.
The most common ways to bend an axle are knocking it out of alignment by backing over curbs or hitting large potholes.
Checking the alignment on your axle takes a bit of dedication and time, but probably can be done with a few simple instruments found in your garage.
Start with a quick inspection of your tires since this is the easiest and most expeditious method. If you notice baldness only on the outer edges of the tire you probably have a bent axle.
Of course, baldness can be caused by improper tire pressure too, so check this first. If you have a matching pattern of baldness on both the outside and inside edges of the tires with tread still visible in the center, you most likely have an alignment problem.
