These are important and the trained technicians at Trailer Boss can give advice and help on these important issues. One common concern customers that have been pulling a trailer for a while have is uneven wear on their tires.
Often customers complain about trailer tires that are wearing funny. This does not necessarily mean the tires are flawed. If a trailer has excessive wear on the inside of the tread there are a couple possible explanations. Most likely the problem is caused by hauling a load too heavy for the axles. There is also the possibility of a bent axle.
Make sure you are not overloading your trailer. On most cargo trailers manufacturers use 3500 lb axles, 5200 lb/6000 lb axles, and 7000 lb axles.
As a rule if your wheels have 5 lug nuts your trailer has 3500 lb axles. If it has 6 lugs it has 5200 lb axles, and 7000 lb axles have 8 lugs. This covers 95% of all enclosed trailers.
You may want a qualified technician to check out your trailer whether it’s an enclosed trailer or a utility trailer, dump trailer or another type. Come in to one of the following locations.
